Epson announces Stylus Photo R1900 'A3+' printer

Epson has incorporated UltraChrome Hi-Gloss2 ink technology into its latest printer, the Stylus Photo R1900, which boasts an eight-colour inkset claimed to be capable of producing '18,446,774 trillion colour combinations'.

'In addition to cyan, magenta and yellow inks, UltraChrome H-Gloss2 features matte black, photo black, red, orange and gloss optimiser,' said a spokesperson.

'The new orange ink replaces the blue ink previously used with UltraChrome H-Gloss. It allows Epson to offer significant enhancements in colour reproduction for natural skin, tones,' claims the firm.

'Output also features more vivid oranges and an expansion in the red colour gamut.'

Epson claims that the technology on board the R1900 gives the user 'smoother images and colour control'.

The R1900 is due out next month priced £399.99.

It uses a minimum droplet size of 1.5 picolitres.
